Divorce can be devastating both emotionally and financially; particularly when a couple have been together for a long time.

Usually, anyone who has been through a divorce is glad that it’s over and is happy to see the back of their divorce solicitors. But that doesn’t seem to be the case for one woman who has announced that she is taking her ex husband to court in order to claim £560,000 in maintenance.

This seems pretty standard as far as divorces go. Until you consider that the couple split up nearly 30 years ago.

Philippa Vaughan has claimed that she is owed the money because she has suffered since a judge cancelled the £27,000 payments that her ex used to pay her each year. Since then, Vaughan has claimed that she has struggled while her ex has continued to enjoy being a millionaire. Divorce lawyers representing David Vaughan say that his former wife has plenty to live off and lives in a £1 million home already.

The couple divorced in 1985 and will soon appear at the Civil Appeal Court to see if Mrs Vaughan is to be awarded the money.
